Questions
Can any doctor do my taxi medical?
Most councils accept any GMC-registered doctor. Some want your own GP, or a doctor from their list. Check with your council before you book. When you choose your council on our form, we show what we know about its rules.
Do I need my GP records?
It depends on your council. Some want a one-page summary, some want the full record. Ask your GP surgery early, as some take two weeks.
What if the form can't be signed?
The doctor explains why on the day. Your council or the DVLA makes the licensing decision. There's no refund for a completed assessment.
Can I change my appointment?
Yes. It's free up to 48 hours before, using the link in your confirmation text or email.
Is the eye test included?
Yes. Bring the glasses or contact lenses you drive in.
Do you send the form to the council or the DVLA?
No. You send it, as your council or the DVLA tells you to.
Why isn't there a date for my town yet?
We open a clinic day when 15 drivers nearby have registered. Share your town page with other drivers to open it sooner.
Can an optician do my eye test?
Yes. An optician or optometrist can fill in the eyesight section of the D4 before you come. Otherwise we do the eye test at your appointment. Bring your distance glasses, and come with contact lenses out.
Do I need to fill in the D4 before I come?
Yes, your parts only: the grey boxes on page 1, your name and date of birth at the bottom of each page, and your details on the last page. Sign it at the appointment. See 'What to bring' for the steps.
Can my company book several drivers, or have a doctor on site?
Yes. See our For business page.
I have a health condition. Can I still book?
Usually, yes, as long as you bring the right paperwork. Tick it when you register and we send you the exact list. For some conditions, such as insulin or seizures, please contact us first.
